about

Time to be OK, a line taken from “Listen to This (Crashed)”, is a fitting title for Give Me Gravity’s debut EP - after being a part of several separate musical endeavors that fell short, the four members have found something that will grow into something much bigger. Based out of Philadelphia, the band is ready to be introduced to the world through four songs that define their distinctive and cohesive style. The EP opens with “Leave”, a hard-hitting epic, complete with exchanging guitar solos, in which lead songwriter Andrew Bondarev details his blunt advice for an unwanted guest. “Sleepless” showcases both Bondarev’s knack for emotional storytelling and guitarist Nick Czarnecki’s sweeping, sonic sound - only to finish with one of the band’s definitive riffs and duelling vocal melodies. Bassist/Vocalist Thomas Howley allows his pop sensibilities to create a soon-to-be-crowd favorite with “Snakes as Chocolate”. Howley’s call and return vocals makes it almost impossible not to sing along - even long after you have finished listening. The EP’s final song, “Listen to This (Crashed), begins with an eastern induced full set of percussion, led by drummer Saul Dratman. His tribal, rolling strikes conjure a sense of dangerous foreign travel. However, the song then juxtaposes itself, turning into a radio-friendly pop tune. The closing track’s hopeful refrain reassures the listener that, although life is full of change, there is always Time to be OK.

Track Name: Leave
Leave this town,
Leave this place,
We’re suffering enough,
To have your waste.

I’ve got a lesson don’t you hold me back again
Got Smith & Wesson, but I might as well have ten
You lie and cheat to get things, but its coming back
Can’t run much longer, never could, I guess its something that you’ll always lack...

Can't run much, never could, neither could my friends
You took it on yourself, to push them til the end
So here’s a plan for you to make you go away
Pack bags, raise flags, and get your fuckin’ ass the hell out of this town.

Out this town
Out this town
Out this town
Track Name: Sleepless
Another sleepless night, another wasted day
at least I'm not wasted, not since you went away,
If you could see me now, you would think I'm alright,
but nothing could be further, I'll never be so right...

So why can't I be, faultless as you are,
with your perfect smile, magenta eyes,
why would anyone want to be that way,
when you could be yourself, be yourself, be yourself....

I can’t live up to what you need,
I guess I’m doomed to stay alone,
I ruin everything that good,
Your good, is what ruined me...

(why would anyone want to be that way,
when you could be yourself, when you could be yourself)
Track Name: Snakes as Chocolate
The car door slams, as you walk away
another night ending the same
I wonder if you will come back around

Lets drive around in circles
Just like this conversation

Snakes as Chocolate
You said I’m one of them

My phone rings, do we need this?
Its 4 AM in the morning
When you come back, will you remember all I’ve said?

Lets drive around in circles
Just like this conversation

Snakes as Chocolate
You said I’m one of them
Do I melt in your mouth?

Spin me around in circles
Stop this in my head
Spin me around, just spin me around
stop this in my head

Tell me what you want
I can see right through you
tell me what you want
I can see right through you

Snakes as Chocolate
You said I’m one of them
Do I melt in your mouth?
Track Name: Listen to This (Crashed)
I know a girl who wears my old shirts all the time,
I thought I’d let you know, now that she’s with you.
My smell has lifted now, won’t bother you at all,
Unless you think about the reason why i’m gone.

This is not the end, as she keeps on telling me,
I will not forget the reason why I’m doing this,
You can’t change for long as I’m sure you already know,
For now we’re done with change its time to be ok.

Now I can’t tell you why, or where this all began,
I just know that this song came so naturally,
You see the same quote on your bed before you sleep,
I see the same face, it’s already been so long.

I’m gonna drive one day and not look back at all,
Arrive at half past one, with no plans looking forward,
You’re gonna turn around, and search for the right words
But I won’t let you talk, for nothing should be said.
